2019 Saint-Galet CDP
A special bottling made especially for the importer – and made possible because of Covid. Essentially, it’s made by a Chateauneuf insider from material that normally sells (for much more money) to restaurants in Europe.
As the back label explains:
Our grandparents were already working the vineyards when in 1936 the appellation Chateauneuf-du-Pape was created, the first cru of the Southern Rhone, world famous in the meantime. They knew the terroir was exceptional. Traditions like manual harvesting, double sorting, use of foudre haven’t changed. With pleasure we hope to deliver our passion to your table.
This is 80% very old-vine Grenache, with 12% Mourvedre and 8% Syrah. It’s an excellent expression of tradition Chateauneuf in a top year…and at only $29.99 a HUGE Chateauneuf bargain.
