Originally crafted in the 1800s as a "medicine" for people suffering from the flu, Barolo Chinato is one of the great, underrated digestif spirits in the world. The Alessandria brother concoct their version by using their Barolo DOCG juice as a base wine and combining it with a tincture of over 35 different herbs and spices, including quinine bark, licorice, ginger, and rhubarb. The mixture is then aged in oak barrels for one year before bottling and release.
